MYOB BankLink is the backbone of rural sector accounting
Ten major rural suppliers provide data feeds to MYOB clients MYOB celebrates a year on from BankLink acquisition New Zealand’s leading accounting solutions provider MYOB BankLink has reached a new milestone, and is now delivering over 20,000 rural data feeds to businesses in the farming sector.
MYOB is the only accounting solutions company in New Zealand able to provide dedicated data feeds from ten major rural suppliers. This is in addition to MYOB’s comprehensive data feed service from all of the trading banks.
“BankLink pioneered the data delivery process over 25 years ago, and still provides the most accurate, secure, and reliable data for accountants and their clients in the farming sector,” says MYOB General Manager Accountants Division, Adam Ferguson.
“MYOB acquired BankLink in May last year and it’s proving to be a great fit, enabling MYOB to strengthen its offering throughout New Zealand, but especially in the rural sector.”
Mr Ferguson says Fonterra/RD1 are the most popular data feeds, as they combine milk production data and RD1 rural supplies transactions. Open Country, Tatua and Westland also provide milk production data. CRT Cooperative, Farmlands Cooperative, PGG Wrightson, Ashburton Trading Society and New Zealand Farmers Livestock provide data feeds for rural supplies and livestock trading.
The data feeds enable accountants to provide their rural sector clients with cash flow reports that compare year-on-year financial results. As the data is rich in detail, it can also be used for livestock calculations and the forecasting of milk production.
"We love MYOB BankLink and use it very extensively in our practice. It allows us to be as efficient as possible and to offer our clients the most cost effective solution on the market,” says Peter Hexter, Partner Manager at Cooper Aitken, a large accounting firm that specialises in the New Zealand rural sector.
Extending capability
Mr Ferguson says because rural businesses require dedicated solutions, MYOB continues to partner with local providers that have an established track record for service in the New Zealand farming community.
“As part of our commitment to make it easier for farmers and other rural operations to do business, we are currently developing partnerships with iAgri and CashManager RURAL, both local New Zealand rural software developers that provide farm management solutions.”
“An ongoing goal for MYOB is to leverage the resources and experience we have developed over 25 years of working with rural New Zealand, to provide the most comprehensive business support for this vital industry.
“We are very proud of our extensive footprint in rural New Zealand, and we are fully committed to working with accountants and farmers for decades to come,” Mr Ferguson says.
