Choice Extend Partnership with Cystic Fibrosis Association
Choice Hotels has announced a two-year extension of their current partnership with official New Zealand charity partner, the Cystic Fibrosis Association of New Zealand.
Choice Hotels appointed CFANZ as their New Zealand charity partner in June 2013 and to celebrate the partnership extension, are launching the first Take a Breath for CF week.
The inaugural fundraising week for the association will run from 8th – 14th June where Kiwis will be encouraged to take a “breather” and book a stay at a NZ Choice hotel during this time.
From every booking made during the week, $2 will be donated directly to CFANZ with a goal of raising $15,000 for the Association.
Money raised from the week will be put towards supporting the Association’s three field workers who travel the country helping people with CF, both in their homes, in hospitals and at specialist visits.
“Our field workers work extremely hard travelling the country to directly support and positively influence the lives of Kiwis living with CF,” says CFANZ national fundraising and event manager, Caroline Wagteveld McKenzie. “On their travels they currently stay in Choice hotels which significantly reduce our costs. However, funds raised from Take a Breath for CF week will provide further much-needed support for the fantastic work of our field workers.”
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease affecting many organs in the body, especially the lungs and pancreas. For people with Cystic Fibrosis, it means frequent and serious chest infections, multiple hospital stays, up to 15,000 pills each year, an inability to digest food and an average life expectancy of just 35 years.
Since the launch of the partnership in June 2013, Choice Hotels has helped to substantially lower travel cost for the association by providing free room nights at their properties around New Zealand.
“We’re thrilled to extend our partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Association of New Zealand,” says Choice Hotels’ marketing manager, Matt Taylor. “It is such a deserving and hardworking charity that is committed to raising awareness of the disease and improving the quality of life for young people with CF.
“We will be doing everything we can to meet and exceed our target of $15,000 for Cystic Fibrosis with the Take a Breath for CF fundraising week,” says Taylor.
