Welcome news for the New Zealand campervan rental sector, with Google’s trend analysis showing a massive spike in interest for the industry.
Rental booking specialists Motorhome Republic have crunched the numbers for ‘NZ Campervan Hire’ as a search term online, relative to the total number of searches on Google. This is then scaled from 1-100, helping to break down popularity and see what worldwide trends are forming.
Figures for the first two months of 2014 reveal a huge upward trend for the search phrase ‘NZ Campervan Hire’, with an average figure of 76.5. This is a 24% increase for the same time period last year.
However, ‘Campervan Hire’ has generally remained stable as a search term internationally, illustrating how the business in New Zealand is bucking the trend.
Senior Account Manager at Motorhome Republic, Doug Brown, isn’t surprised by the figures.
“The market has been a lot more active. Pricing is very competitive right now, with ever-increasing numbers looking to holiday in a campervan. There are also plenty of Australians crossing the ditch to New Zealand and hiring.
“More and more families and internationals are embarking on motorhome travel. Its appeal as an affordable holiday is certainly increasing.
Industry experts in the United States are predicting a boost in recreational vehicle and campervan rental, with an expected surge in the baby boomer market as their economy continues to recover from recession.
Domestically in New Zealand there is continued optimism within the travel industry, with major events such as the Cricket World Cup and FIFA U-20 World Cup expected to bring in thousands of visitors next year.
Motorhome Republic is a leading motorhome, campervan and RV rental booking specialist, offering guaranteed lowest rental prices in 25 countries and more than 400 locations.
