New Sustainable Business Directory ‘one stop shop’ to source more sustainable NZ products and services
The new Sustainable Business Directory is a ‘one stop shop’ to make it easier to find more sustainable products and services across New Zealand. Launched today by the Sustainable Business Network, the directory makes it fast and easy to search and select suppliers in your area committed to being more sustainable.
CEO of the Sustainable Business Network (SBN) Rachel Brown says that users can choose from hundreds of providers to quickly green their supply chain. “From waste consultants to wineries, IT to insurance, you can discover products and services, certifications and programme providers nationwide. It’s the ‘go-to’ place to source smart solutions.”
The Sustainable Business Directory profiles all organisations that are members of the Sustainable Business Network. Users can search for products and services by keyword, geographical region or by category.
Rachel says that the directory is a key part of SBN’s plan to shift procurement onto a path where sustainability plays a more significant role. “We encourage users of the directory to ask sustainability-related questions of the organisations listed. While they are at different stages of their sustainability journey, and no business is perfect, they have all shown a commitment to sustainability by joining our network and we work with them to improve their business’ sustainability.
“We’ve included specific fields in each directory profile so users can find out more about each business’ commitment to sustainability. This includes identifying how each business contributes to a more sustainable New Zealand, as well as information about awards, certifications and participation in sustainability programmes.”
Karl Armstrong, Executive General Manager at NZI (SBN’s foundation sponsor), says that the Sustainable Business Directory is a fantastic initiative. “It lists almost 500 businesses and makes it easy for people and organisations to select products and services so they can become more sustainable themselves.
“NZI sees the Sustainable Business Network as a trusted advisor and collaborator to many New Zealand organisations to inspire and facilitate necessary change. We see they actually make a practical difference and I think all businesses should capitalise on that.”
