Lupo, the royal spaniel

When The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge visit Christchurch during their New Zealand Tour on Monday April 14th,2014, they will be focusing on the success of the Christchurch rebuild after the devastating earthquakes 3 years ago. They will be keen to hear tales of positive new beginnings emerging from the rubble. Christchurch based brand The Dog Coat Company, is one such business, as the creators of the popular, patented merino compression garment ‘The Canine Calm Coat’, which has now helped to ease the stress and anxiety in so many New Zealand dogs since its post earthquake creation 3 years ago. www.caninecalmcoat.co.nz
The Dog Coat Company co-owners Becky Hadfield & Jo Harris are both proud ex-pats as well as proud Kiwis, together they have expanded their boutique business to produce a beautiful range of high quality woolen coats for dogs as well as their therapeutic design. They have taken inspiration from current European fashion trends releasing their 2014 winter range of traditional tweeds, opulent cashmere and trendy tartan woolen coats all impeccably finished with genuine leather detailing.
As passionate animal lovers, the Royal couple will have been sad to leave “Lupo” their beloved black cocker spaniel, behind in England during their travels. We felt that dear Lupo deserved a bit of a treat, and so we contacted Clarence House and New Zealand Government House to request permission to send a gift to Lupo from New Zealand. We were so elated to be invited to send one of our designer coats to The Duke and Duchess, and proudly chose the Tartan design, as it would look stunning against Lupos’ black fur.
The company proudly supports the ‘Buy New Zealand Made organisation’, and the ‘Campaign for Wool’, which has William’s father the Prince of Wales as its international Patron. All their dog coats are professionally crafted and designed in Christchurch NZ, using high quality natural fabrics that let your dog’s skin breath, puts this coat in a class of its own.
