New Zealand start-up generates international fan club
New Zealand’s most exciting start-up, Wipster, a new cloud platform that radically simplifies video production, has launched globally.
Wipster is a review and approval platform that simplifies the feedback process – making it perfect for video collaborators such as freelancers, marketers, agencies and production houses.
CEO Rollo Wenlock launched Wipster at this year’s SXSW in Austin Texas, which pulls in some 50,000 visitors, made up of the music, film and interactive industry’s most influential names. Wenlock says the experience was incredible.
“SXSW is amazing, it’s the place to discover and test the latest ideas from the interactive industries. You see things that once would have been set in 21 st century futuristic films. I loved it, and it couldn’t have been a better launching pad for Wipster”.
Wipster dramatically increases video production’s efficiency by allowing co-creators and collaborators to share feedback on a cloud platform visually. Wipster’s simple design means filmmakers can literally write their feedback onto the screen, frame by frame.
Wipster raised over $600,000 from investors including the ICEAngels, AngelsHQ, Forbes contributor Ben Kepes, and Xero chairman Sam Knowles in its initial investment round which closed in 2013. Xero’s CEO Rod Drury has been an advocate since its inception.
"Wipster has empowered Xero’s global marketing team to effectively collaborate in video production. Their platform is unique; it provides a clean, creative space perfect for teams working remotely or telecommuting, and gives the right amount of structure to our video creation projects" says Drury.
Wenlock is now in San Francisco presenting Wipster to new audiences and filming a series about the future of video with thought leaders from Adobe, Vimeo, Black Magic Design and Motiongrapher. But the camera’s also been turned on him, with Microsoft inviting him to be filmed for a series about the best companies using their Bizspark product.
“It’s been a busy time. In just over a year we now have a product that’s being used in more than 65 countries around the world and being subscribed to by big internationals – it’s great”, says Wenlock.
