Infant Formula Chairman Speaks Out
The fact that Prime Minister John Key is to have dinner with China’s President Xi Jinping is the best outcome exporters could have wished for, said Michael Barnett, chairman of the Infant Formula Exporters Association.
“Last year when a delegation returned from a visit to China to make the case for resumption of infant formula exports we said we wanted Ministers and if possible the Prime Minister to visit and push the case at the highest possible levels that New Zealand is a quality exporter with excellent production practice in place.”
“We appreciate that Mr Key found the time to make the visit, and I will be joining him with other exporters to push the case over the next few days.”
The fact the his itinerary in respect of meetings arranged for him has changed at short notice may frustrate a minority, but the work Mr Key can do for us in an extended meeting with China’sPresident is the best outcome for us,” concluded Mr Barnett.
