The Intermedia Group Enters the New Zealand Market with Two Key Industry Titles
The Intermedia Group who is respected as one of the most comprehensive and targeted B2B advertising networks in
Australia is entering the New Zealand market with two publications launching in May and June 2014.
With publishing expertise in hotel, hospitality and event management, among other sectors, and headed by Dale Spencer in
New Zealand and Simon Grover in Australia, The Intermedia Group is set to leverage into New Zealand the successful
integrated business model which has seen its Australian portfolio expand to more than 70 media properties across print,
digital and events. “We are investing in the future of publishing in New Zealand,” explains the NZ MD Dale Spencer.
Spencer, who has 30 years experience in media on the Agency side, has been a keen observer and participant in various
communication trends. “With today’s focus on targeted, results based marketing, we have the opportunity to create better
business growth in the sectors we cover.”
Hospitality Business will cover all things related to this industry for bars, cafes, restaurants, motels, hotels,
wineries, breweries and catering. It will incorporate a dedicated section for the liquor industry called ‘The Shout’ and
will have a strong monthly print edition in addition to weekly e-newsletters and regularly updated online content and
will launch in May.
FMCG Business targets decision makers in the supermarket, grocery, route trade and manufacturing industries. Monthly
distribution will also include a dedicated section for the related liquor business to be branded ‘Liquor News’. Key to
its success will be a consistent e-newsletter and online offering as well as the anchor print product which launches in
June.
The Intermedia Group will deliver a new level of expertise to the New Zealand hospitality and FMCG industries with these
authoritative magazine brands. Local editorial from experienced and respected New Zealand journalists as well as a
dedicated sales team for the group headed by Wendy Steele are part of the leadership guiding this venture.
Publisher and Managing Director Simon Grover says that, “there is a significant opportunity in the New Zealand B2B
market. We deliver print and online products that provide in-depth and considered coverage of industry issues, trends,
research, design, news and logistics in a quality environment. Key to our offering is a strong digital presence which
will become essential reading to these industries.”
“We believe in brands and content engaging meaningfully with industries and communities. As demonstrated by our
Australian titles, the mastheads live as an integrated mix of events, digital communication and print titles. In broad
terms there is certainly pressure on print to demonstrate ongoing relevance and to carry editorial which comprises
quality industry analysis, but as a medium it's still a key pillar in the overall approach. Our task is to tailor that
approach according to each sector,” says Grover.
“With The Intermedia Group we have the best of both worlds, from an exceptional local team as well as support and
content from Australia and around the globe. The New Zealand economy has a positive outlook and we believe the time is
right to introduce these new titles that will provide interest and inspiration to the hospitality and FMCG industries,”
concludes Spencer.
