Statement from Dave Chambers, Managing Director, Countdown
Response to letter received by Commerce Commission
We note the letter from Shane Jones MP to the Commerce Commission. We are disappointed that Parliament has been used to raise very serious and unsubstantiated accusations and the letter released today is equally unspecific.
We work hard every day in our stores to provide employment for more than 18,000 people and low prices for our customers. We’re also very proud to have a long history of supporting New Zealand suppliers. We are deeply disappointed that our team on the frontline has been impacted by these broad and unsubstantiated allegations.
As we have said previously, we reject the allegations made by Shane Jones MP. If any MP or supplier has questions or concerns about our business they are welcome to contact us directly to discuss them.
We will fully cooperate with any enquiries from the Commerce Commission.
