Port CEO Group Comment on Health and Safety
The 14 member New Zealand Port Chief Executives’ Group rejects suggestions in the media that worker safety has been sacrificed for productivity.
“This is just not true,” Acting Group Chairperson Charles Finny said.
“Health and safety is of the highest priority at all ports in New Zealand, and all companies take their responsibilities to workers extremely seriously.”
“The Group is obviously concerned when accidents occur. It is important that lessons are learned from these and that companies keep striving to ensure that health and safety practices are improved,” he concluded.
