Skyjoy Interactive is the first multimillion dollar Miami-based software development company focused on casual and
social games in the mobile market, specifically iOS and Android. Following their uncompromising desire to reinvigorate
the gameplay of the contemporary gaming scene with nostalgic, 90’s-era gameplay, Miami-bred founders, Abdulhady Taher
and the Portilla brothers, Alex and Miguel, embarked on their trailblazing journey to put Miami on the gaming map in
2011, when they made Brickell their base of operations.
From the outset, the Skyjoy mission was clear: To produce the best games on iOS and Android. With an amalgamation of
experienced videogame developers and aficionados at the helm, the mission is as good as accomplished for these
electronic entrepreneurs. In fact, with over twenty years of combined video game development experience, Miguel and Alex
Portilla, former founders of PoBros Inc., are proven industry leaders who have worked on some of the biggest titles in
the industry from the Madden series and Lord of the Rings, to James Bond.
Skyjoy strives to build its game catalog based on the widespread appeal and simplicity of “classic” videogame styling by
combining vibrant, contemporary graphics, with the challenging yet accessible gameplay mechanics of gaming’s golden-era.
Indeed, the company playfully crefers itself as old school players with new school tools, and claims it is dedicated to
“the real OG,” Original Gamers.
Nowhere is this homage to the classics more evident than in Super Kid Cannon, SkyJoy’s inaugural game. Featuring a red
panda hell bent on rescuing his kidnapped sweetheart, Justine, from the evil clutches of an extremely well-built snow
leopard named Khan. This dazzling, action-packed Vertical-Launcher (the first of its kind) takes players along for an
incredible, altitudinous ride with gradually difficult puzzles and strategic thinking needed to progress through its 30
diverse (and potentially increasing) levels. And while the game can easily be played by everyone, it incorporates
features and extras designed to offer a challenge to the more hardcore gamers.
Another immediately noticeable aspect of Super Kid Cannon is the tremendous variety of characters, each one with their
own unique personality, traits, and moves. Indeed, this torso-less (more aerodynamic) red panda could care less about
his threatened species status while utilizing cannons, bubbles, ski-lifts, spaceships, and windmills among other modes
for transport. Skyjoy has also included social integration, allowing Super Kid Cannoneers to compare ratings, scores,
and check their friends’ progress in-game.
Super Kid Cannon and all of its interspecies vigilante awesomeness will be available soon for your iOS and Android
device. By helping Super Kid Cannon get Justine back, you’re not only supporting Miami’s fledgling gaming industry,
you’re also helping the red panda procreate, revitalize its population, and kill its natural predator! Prepare
yourselves, the Sky(joy) is the limit!
