Cereal Maker Seeks Local Heroes
Community is what makes New Zealand what it is – that’s why Hubbards has been busy finding Kiwi heroes from all over the
country that have been doing amazing things for local causes and communities.
Hubbards launched its Limited Edition Box of Amazing Passionfruit & Vanilla Muesli in October with 60c from every box sold going to support local heroes. Since then, they have received
lots of inspirational local hero stories.
“We love hearing about the amazing things everyday people are doing to improve the lives of those around them,” says
Kimberley Thorpe from Hubbards.
On 5 February, Hubbards will announce the three amazing heroes they are to support from all the entries received. The
general public will then have the chance to cast their vote for who they believe deserves the greatest portion of funds.
Here’s a selection of some of the local hero stories received so far:
o Blake Laanbroek from West Auckland is preparing to do a fundraising trek to raise funds for BARK NZ, a registered
charity delivering dog safety education into preschools and primary schools. Blake is ten years old and is giving up
four days of his Christmas holidays to raise funds. The trek is a 4-day, 70km event from Titirangi to Muriwai through
rough terrain.
o April McLennan, from Christchurch organised the third annual 24 hour relay cycle ride in December 2013, where six
teenagers aged between 14 – 18, cycled relay laps around the McLean’s Island Bike Park for 24 hours. Money raised from
the cycle ride is donated to the Salvation Army’s Street Outreach.
From 5 February, make sure you vote for the local hero you think deserves the greatest proportion of funds raised via
the Hubbards Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Hubbards).
