Corbel Construction Appoints Alistair Cory-Wright As Commercial Construction Programme Manager
Christchurch-based construction company Corbel Construction has appointed Alistair Cory-Wright as Programme Manager in its Commercial Construction Division. Alistair has over 20 years’ engineering and construction sector experience.
As Programme Manager, Alistair heads a team of project managers and foremen ensuring that Corbel’s commercial construction projects are delivered on time and budget.
He joins Corbel from the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB) where for 12 years he was responsible for overseeing the construction of a number of hospital and health centre projects including the $21 million Burwood Hospital Surgical Services unit comprising four orthopaedic operating theatres. This project went on to win the Master Builders Commercial Building of the Year.
Prior to CDHB, Alistair was with Carson Group and project managed the $45 million upgrade of the Auckland War Memorial Museum and the $20 million expansion of the Lynnmall Shopping Centre in Auckland.
Alistair graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 1987 and subsequently worked in the UK for six years on road and bridge design, widening and strengthening the UK’s motorway network.
Corbel Construction’s managing director Craig Jones said, “Alistair has been responsible for managing many large and complex commercial construction projects over some 20 years. He brings this project management and health sector experience and expertise to Corbel as we increase the scale of the business by expanding our commercial construction operation.”
Currently a mid-sized construction company, Corbel is best-known for its delivery of small to medium sized commercial projects, and mid-to-upper end residential projects. More recently, it has become involved in repair and rebuild work resulting from the Canterbury earthquakes and is looking to capitalise on this work to expand its business more generally.
“Corbel is now undertaking larger commercial construction projects which require not only a larger workforce, but also management with proven experience in running larger scale complex construction projects. Alistair’s skills will complement the Corbel team and enable us to undertake additional commercial construction projects, particularly in the health sector.” Craig Jones said.
