Tomahawk connects Xero to lucrative tourism sector

1 July 2013

Auckland-based tourism software developer and digital specialist Tomahawk announces the integration of its ResBook software with Xero’s online accounting. It’s the first integration available between a provider from the New Zealand tourism industry and Xero, Hi-Tech company of the year 2013.

The ResBook reservation system is used by accommodation providers to streamline rates and online bookings. The integration with Xero gives tourism operators an end-to-end system from time of booking through to financial reporting. Xero’s bank reconciliation and real time currency updates will be well received by a sector that deals with diverse suppliers and currencies.

Tomahawk Director Gina Paladini says, “Xero is a New Zealand success story and we are delighted to be the first tourism technology provider to partner with them. The tourism industry contributed more than $23 billion to the New Zealand economy last year and giving our partners the tools to understand what aspects of their business work best and generate the most revenue is critical to its ongoing growth and prosperity.”

Xero General Manager New Zealand Amanda Armstrong says “Tomahawk were an obvious choice to partner with in the tourism industry. Their combination of technical expertise, industry knowledge and strategic thinking delivers a comprehensive solution to the tourism industry.”

Tomahawk has released the integration to existing ResBook customers. Rock the Boat Cruises from Northland is one that trialed the software. Company director Sarah Greener was asked if she would recommend the ResBook/Xero integration to others. “It's easy to do and it makes your life easier! Just do it. It has been the single biggest improvement we have made to our business systems this year and we love it,” she says.

New Zealand’s diverse range of small tourism operators is expected to embrace the efficiencies the partnership will provide. “The seamless integration with Xero accounting and sharing of data across ResBook and accounts will save time across a range of business essentials,” says Paladini.
