Tawhiti Museum Earns 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence
Honoured as a Top Performing (Museum) Destination as Reviewed by Travellers on the World’s Largest Travel Site
Nigel and Teresa Ogle’s stunning Tawhiti Museum today announced that it has received a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award. The accolade, which honours hospitality excellence, is given only to establishments
that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses
worldwide. Only the top-performing 10 per cent of businesses listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award.
To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a
possible five, as reviewed by travellers on TripAdvisor, and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12
months. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.
The latest award is just one of many that Tawhiti Museum, widely acclaimed as one of the most innovative museums in the
country, has to its credit. But museum owner/creator Nigel Ogle is particularly pleased to receive a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, because it’s based on the consistently high
recommendations of people who have experienced the museum first hand.
“We strive to offer our visitors a memorable experience and bring our amazing history alive in a way that everyone can
enjoy. I suppose this award is evidence that our hard work is paying off,” says Nigel.
“TripAdvisor is delighted to celebrate the success of businesses around the globe, from Sydney to Chicago, Sao Paulo to
Rome, which are consistently offering travellers a great customer experience,” said Alison Copus, Vice President of
Marketing for TripAdvisor for Business.
“The Certificate of Excellence award provides top performing establishments around the world the recognition they
deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most – their customers.”
About Tawhiti Museum
Widely acclaimed as the best private museum in the country, and with seven separate tourism awards to its credit,
Tawhiti Museum offers an impressive visual history of Taranaki’s tumultuous and often bloody past.
The museum, which started out as a hobby and small private collection, uses life size exhibits (created from moulds cast
from real people) and scale models – all designed and built on the premises, to present our heritage in a series of
super realistic and engaging displays.
But Tawhiti is so much more than a museum. With Mr Badgers Cafe, the Bush Train, arts and crafts shops and the new
Traders and Whalers attraction there is something for all the family to experience.
Traders and Whalers takes you on a unique journey (quite literally) through our past. It transports visitors to a time
when our coastline witnessed piracy, abductions, espionage, dangerous explorations and bloody revenge.
One piece of advice: give yourself plenty of time for your Tawhiti visit.
Open hours:
Summer (26 Dec – 31 Jan) 10 am – 4 pm daily
Spring/Autumn 10 am – 4 pm Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon
