Board Appointments to Drive C3 Expansion
C3 Limited, New Zealand’s largest provider of on-wharf logistics services, has strengthened its Board team as the
company seeks to continue its expansion across the Australasian port network.
Board Chairman Jon Mayson confirmed C3 Limited Chief Executive Dean Camplin and international ports, logistics and
container terminal operations adviser Tony Boyle had been appointed to the Board, providing C3 Limited with the
strategic vision the company needs to build on recent growth and continue its push into new markets.
“Dean and Tony bring tremendous experience in the ports and logistics industry to the Board and their input will be
invaluable as we continue to focus on providing the world’s most efficient port handling services to a greater number of
Australasian ports and their customers.

international shipping and port operations,” Mr Mayson said.
Established in 1950, C3 Limited provides port sector services such as marshalling, stevedoring, warehousing and on-wharf
logistics management to some of New Zealand’s leading companies including Carter Holt Harvey, New Zealand Steel and RD1
Nutrition, and the major forestry owners, both in New Zealand and Australia. The company currently handles 14.5 million
tonnes of cargo annually across 15 ports in New Zealand and Australia.
Mr Mayson noted that collectively, the C3 Limited Board has more than 100 years’ experience in the logistics and
transport industries.
Asciano Director of Ports and Stevedoring, Philip Tonks remains on the C3 board, further enhancing the international
expertise available to C3 while providing close links to C3’s parent company, Asciano Limited. C3 is part of Asciano’s
Ports and Stevedoring division, which specialises in the management of ports and supporting infrastructure and the
provision of port related logistics at bulk and general ports.
Asciano is Australia’s largest national rail, freight and ports operator, and became the sole owner of C3 Limited in
November 2012.

Mr Jon Mayson
Chairman
Mr Mayson, now a professional company Chairman and Director, was the CEO of Port of Tauranga Ltd for a period of nine
years and concurrently CEO of Northport Ltd for three years. Under his leadership, the Port of Tauranga grew to become
New Zealand’s largest export port, and was an early adopter of triple bottom line reporting – demonstrating the
company’s social, environmental and economic sustainability. He is a qualified master mariner and holds a MBA in
International Management. Mr Mayson is a past president of Export New Zealand, and until recently he was the Chair of
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise. He currently chairs a number of boards including Scales Corporation Ltd, Fronde
Systems Group Limited, ZiwiPeak Limited, Trevelyans Pack and Cool Ltd and is a Director on the Board of the Chiefs. Mr
Mayson was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2006 and received an honorary doctorate from Waikato
University in 2010.
Mr Philip Tonks
Mr Tonks is Asciano’s Director of Ports and Stevedoring and is responsible for driving the strategy and overall
performance of the business across its Australian and New Zealand operations. He has more than 30 years experience
within logistics, shipping and transport industries and has held a number of senior executive roles within Asciano,
including General Manager, Commercial where he was responsible for overseeing and managing all of Asciano’s commercial
functions. Prior to this, Mr Tonks was responsible for the expansion of Toll Logistics in New Zealand.
Mr Dean Camplin
Mr Camplin is the Chief Executive of C3 Limited, a position he has held since 2009. Under his leadership, C3 Limited has
grown its revenue by over 40% and has gained a number of national and industry awards including the 2012 NZ CILT Award
for Supply Chain Innovation, and the 2011 Port of Tauranga Operator of the Year award. Prior to joining C3 Limited, Mr
Camplin worked as the Chief Executive of the Claymark Group, world-leading sawmillers and manufacturers of appearance
grade pinus radiata lumber products, and as the Chief Operating Officer for BNZ Finance Limited.
Mr Tony Boyle
Mr Boyle is a Director of AmZ Limited, a company he established in 1997 specialising in strategy and optimisation
management for container terminals, ports, international shipping and transport. The company has been involved in
projects in ports and with suppliers of logistics services throughout New Zealand. Additionally AmZ works extensively
off shore including Australia, Pacific Islands, Mediterranean, South East Asia and Middle Eastern locations resolving
port and logistics issues. Mr Boyle is a qualified master mariner, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport
and Logistics.
