Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track Nominated For Green Ribbon Award
The Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track has been nominated as a finalist in the Green Economy category for the 2013 Green Ribbon
Awards for the second consecutive year. Honouring outstanding contributions to protecting New Zealand's environment, the
Green Ribbon Awards are conferred by the Ministry for the Environment.
Environment Minister Amy Adams announced 32 finalists in 11 award categories that recognise individuals, businesses,
communities and youth, as well as larger organisations.
“All the finalists have shown great dedication and initiative. I am looking forward to meeting them and learning
first-hand about the great work they are all doing to help New Zealand’s environment,” Ms Adams says.
For the 2013 awards, 217 nominations were received.
Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track Managers Ali & Trish King are thrilled with the announcement:
“This nomination is a fantastic recognition of all the Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track team’s hard work. Everything we do
both on the track and in the office has sustainability at its core, and for our little corner of New Zealand to be
acknowledged in this way is a tremendous achievement.”
The finalists will now attend an awards ceremony at Parliament Buildings on 5 June. Winners will be announced in each
category, and an overall supreme winner will be revealed.
