FRANK Stationery Wants To Give A Backpack And Notebook To Every NZ Child In Need
Auckland, NZ 27/02/2013 - Creativity, education, and independent thinking has always been the foundation of New Zealand
society. However, with the current economic climate, an increasing number of New Zealand families are being forced to
sacrifice important educational resources in order to provide baseline needs like food and shelter. At present, 1 in
every 5 kiwi kids are are living in poverty; This means that basic school supplies like books, bags and stationery are
now luxury for many. FRANK Stationery seeks to ensure that every child in NZ has access to basic school supplies needed
to complete their education. For every item purchased through their website, FRANK will give away the same item to a
child in need.
FRANK founders Jason and Jess Holdaway are well acquainted through their travels with the harsh reality of poverty in
third world countries. However, they were recently surprised to learn of the appalling conditions faced by many of our
own children in New Zealand. After viewing a documentary on poverty in NZ schools, Jason and Jess visited low decile
schools to learn more about the issues faced by our own communities. "We were shocked to find that approximately half of
the students in one primary school would turn up each day without a bag or any stationery to complete their school work.
Students would be given pieces of paper to write on that were then often lost or thrown away". In response, Jason and
Jess have created a business that they believe will provide a tangible solution by providing access to basic educational
resources and giving all children an opportunity to reach their full potential.
