MEDIA RELEASE

Xero hires Amanda Armstrong as New Zealand General Manager

13 February 2013

Online accounting software company Xero is excited to announce the appointment of Amanda Armstrong as New Zealand General Manager.

Armstrong, most recently consulting to Lexis Nexis, has over twenty years experience at CCH, departing in 2011 as director of Software Sales for Australia and New Zealand. This in-depth accounting industry experience will be invaluable as Xero increases its adoption inside larger accounting firms.

“Already, virtually every accounting practice in New Zealand has some customers using Xero and we have many practices that are 100% Xero. Amanda will help us continue to grow our share strongly,” says Xero CEO Rod Drury.

“Xero has disrupted the accounting market by bringing small business accounting software in from the desktop to a securely managed cloud platform, allowing accountants to seamlessly collaborate with their customers at any time. Over the last two years we’ve taken the next step and delivered accountant specific features in the same platform.

“In the past Accountants have been asked to pay a lot of money on software to process their clients’ accounts. We’ve removed that double dipping by providing accountantspecific features as part of the powerful Xero platform."

Armstrong says she is excited to join Xero. “Xero’s success is spreading to mid-sized and large accounting firms and the potential of the market shift is becoming apparent to everyone. For both the accountant and the client, desktop software is a burden, server hardware is costly, and IT support can vary. Who wouldn’t want to be part of the cloud revolution changing all this?"

Armstrong is also inspired by the opportunity to work for a listed New Zealandheadquartered business growing globally. “New Zealand can compete globally and Xero’s rapid growth offshore proves that. It’s an exciting time as incumbents face a decline in their traditional product lines and they need to innovate to remain competitive, while companies like Xero have agility and can move to differentiate quickly."
