JEVIC wins Supply Chain Partnership Award at Global Freight Awards
JEVIC, leading independent provider of vehicle inspection and verification services, together with partners AUTOHUB New
Zealand and Pentalver Transport, held off major international competition to receive the Supply Chain Partnership Award
at the Global Freight Awards. They received the award at a gala ceremony held on 21 November in London, United Kingdom.
Independently judged, this prestigious accolade recognises excellence in the freight and shipping industry and
identified JEVIC and its partners companies as top class performers which together developed an innovative response to
changing market conditions and the development of the UK to NZ pathway.
The three partners launched the UK’s first Vehicle Pre-Clearance Facility for New Zealand and other markets at
Felixstowe in Suffolk to capitalise on the growing export market for used vehicles. JEVIC contributed its international
inspection expertise, AUTOHUB New Zealand its vehicle logistics capabilities, and Pentalver Transport its inland
services skills as part of APM Terminals.
The judges praised the slick cooperation between the partners, based across three continents and time zones, and their
commitment to an innovative and environmentally friendly project which went from conception to full operations in less
than nine weeks.
Launched in July 2012, the partners’ pioneering facility offers a ‘drop off’ one stop service and fixed price
guarantees. Premium used vehicles are delivered to port, and those destined for New Zealand are subjected to the New
Zealand Transport Agency’s stringent structural checks and the Ministry of Primary Industries’ internal and external
biosecurity contamination checks.
The facility also caters for other export markets where pre shipment inspections are required and is ideally positioned
to enable growth as markets increase their volume of cars from UK.
Formerly known as the IFW awards, the 2012 Global Freight Awards recognise and reward excellence in the global freight
and logistics market.
“There was strong competition for the award from such distinguished company and we are extremely proud to have won –
it’s a significant achievement on the world stage for the three partner companies,” said Euan Philpot, Chief Executive,
JEVIC. “The award underpins the commitment of the partnership to creating innovate processes and systems spanning across
the globe.
“The process is endorsed and approved by two New Zealand government departments which further signals the growing trend
from regulators for pre clearance activities to be completed prior to export.”
