Bayleys Kerikeri becomes the final piece of Northland-wide real estate group
The Kerikeri branch of leading real estate agency Bayleys has become the final piece of a Northland-wide real estate group now stretching from Orewa to the Far North.
Bayleys Kerikeri has been owned by parent company Bayleys Real Estate based in Auckland. The branch has now been bought by Bayleys’ franchisee Mackys Real Estate which already operates Bayleys offices in Orewa, Whangaparaoa, Warkworth, Omaha, Snells’ Beach, Mangawhai, Marsden Cove, Whangarei, and Dargaville.
Bayleys Kerikeri will retain its existing name, will still be in the same main street location, and will still be operated by the same sales and administrative personnel led by branch manager and long-serving Bayleys salesperson Chester Rendell. The transition of parent-company ownership for Bayleys Kerikeri took place on November 1.
Mackys Real Estate has won Bayleys Realty Group’s Franchise Group of the Year award for the past two years. The chain of offices has grown significantly since 2009 – opening four new branches at a time when other real estate agencies have been closing down and retrenching staff.
The company is owned by brother and sister duo Mark Macky and Kirsty Stevenson, who are grandchildren of Bayleys’ founder, Graham Bayley. Mark Macky said that integration of Bayleys Kerikeri into the broader Northland chain would benefit both real estate purchasers and vendors by dealing with just one company on a regional basis.
“Publicly there is no real change at all to Bayleys’ presence in and around Kerikeri,” Mr Macky said. “what we are bringing to the existing business are passionate owner/ operators who can offer real synergies for our clients right throughout the entire North. We have unmatched marketing tools and buyer databases and the quality of our team is exceptional.”
Mr Macky said he was excited about integrating the Kerikeri office alongside its sister operations to the north, south and west.
“The key to our growth has been diversity across the property markets in which we operate – residential, lifestyle, commercial and industrial, and rural,” Mark Macky said.
“United under all real estate disciplines and on a geographic basis, Bayleys is the biggest real estate brand in Northland. That enables us to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for a customer’s real estate interests – whether it’s selling a residential home in town, buying a holiday home at the beach, selling a farm, or buying commercial investment property.”
The multi-site regional business model has already proven successful for the Bayleys brand in the Bay of Plenty/Waikato/King Country/Taranaki, Hawke’s Bay/Wairarapa/Manawatu, Canterbury/North Otago and Central Otago/Southland provinces where offices are run as part of regional chains.
“We will be bringing on board many of the existing management practices which those regional franchises have previously initiated and consequently rolled out to deliver greater levels of customer service,” Mr Macky said.
“The dynamics of real estate marketing have changed considerably in the past decade. Previously, many real estate companies confined their marketing to the immediate neighbourhood in which the property for sale was located. However, as people have become more mobile in relocating into and out of regional areas throughout New Zealand, the requirement on real estate agencies now is to market properties regionally and nationally.
“As part of a Northland-focused chain of 10 branches, Bayleys Kerikeri will deliver on that provincial marketing requirement. Simultaneously, as part of a very strong national brand with international reach, Bayleys Kerikeri will continue to ensure that properties are marketed New Zealand-wide to guarantee that every listing is showcased to the widest possible buyer audience and that no stone is left unturned in identifying potential purchasers.
“We have taken the view that servicing the wider real estate markets – rural, residential, lifestyle, commercial and industrial - is also now far broader than just concentrating on one niche segment.
“For example, there are farm owners with investment properties, residential property owners who have commercial investment properties, and of course business owner/occupiers who have their own domestic residences. And many Northlanders, being lucky to live in one of the most beautiful regions in New Zealand, of course have coastal holiday homes.”
With 60 offices nationwide and the most sophisticated marketing tools in New Zealand real estate, Bayleys dominates market shares across all the rural, commercial, industrial, and residential property sectors.
