FGC welcomes Foodstuffs' move on rebate

The NZ Food and Grocery Council welcomes the decision of Foodstuffs Wellington to step back from the application of a promotion rebate from October 1, and accepts the company’s apology, FGC CEO Katherine Rich says.

“FGC looks forward to playing a constructive part in further discussions and we will do what we can to assist this process for the benefit of our industry.

“We understand that the grocery sector is a competitive business and not one of our member companies expects anything other than robust but fair dealings, expectations that are ordinarily met by all parties.

“Our members completely understand the drive to provide New Zealand shoppers with the best value and choice, but it remains important in a small country that major retailers consult and give New Zealand suppliers the opportunity for genuine discussion,” Mrs Rich says.
