WEL Energy Trust appoints new General Manager
Andy Gowland-Douglas, the former Chief Executive of Arts Waikato has just been appointed as the new General Manager of the WEL Energy Trust.
Andy has an extensive background in not-for-profit leadership and community development, and returned to the Waikato from New Plymouth in 2010 for the Arts Waikato role.
WEL Energy Trust Chairman, Mark Ingle, says, “Andy’s extensive background working for not-for-profits, local Government and the community sector means she is a great fit for the role of General Manager of WEL Energy Trust. She’s a great addition to our team and the Trustees are looking forward to working with her to achieve our strategic plan and create even more benefits for our Waikato community.”
Previous to her former role at Arts Waikato, Andy was in New Plymouth for nine years. There she led the council’s community development team followed by four years at the helm of the Cancer Society.
Her career has also included two years working in the UK where she worked as an ICT project manager in London, developing projects that utilised technology to achieve social outcomes.
Speaking about her appointment, Andy says, “My passion lies in community development, in creating a shared vision and in developing individual, organisational and community potential. So I am really excited about this opportunity to work with WEL Energy Trust and to make a meaningful difference, both within the organisation and the community.”
About WEL Energy Trust
WEL Energy Trust funds are distributed to individuals, community groups and major projects within the WEL Networks’ distribution area, which includes Hamilton city, most of the Waikato district and some parts of the Waipa region.
Current trustees of WEL Energy Trust are: Mark Ingle (Chair), Denise Harding, Mark Bunting, Brad Chibnall, Rob Hamill, David Kneebone and Kathryn Williams.
