Animal Lovers Wanted for Wildlife Ambassador Programme
Rotorua, 12 December, 2011 –
Rainbow Springs is launching a Wildlife Ambassador Programme that will give volunteers the opportunity to get up close
with the park’s animals and birds.
The voluntary Wildlife Ambassadors will assist the park’s Wildlife Team with their free-flight bird shows and
interactive experiences that showcase the animals to park visitors.
Rainbow Springs General Manager Michelle Caldwell says, “We are lucky to have so many amazing animals and birds at the
park so this is a great opportunity for passionate animal lovers to gain hands on experience working with them.”
Some of the animals at Rainbow Springs which the volunteers may interact with include; macaw parrots, cockatoos,
kakariki, kea, kaka and tuatara.
A highlight of the program will include assisting in Rainbow Springs’ new free-fight bird show which will feature
different species of exotic birds that will entertain visitors with their free-flying skills and interaction with
trainers. A large outdoor, 384-seat auditorium to house the bird show has recently been completed and the shows will
commence early next year.
Applicants for the Wildlife Ambassador Programme must have some background and experience with animals, preferably
birds, enjoy interacting with members of the public and be enthusiastic about learning new skills in animal management.
