It’s doubly official: Federal and Wolfe voted Auckland’s Best Café 2011 (twice!).
What do you get when you combine the co-owner of Cibo, a famously excellent barista, a “gate to plate” food philosophy, and a relaxed light-filled space complete with resident DJ?
The answer is Federal & Wolfe, which has just been recognised as Auckland’s Best Café in the Café Magazine Awards 2011.
Back in May, Federal and Wolfe were crowned Outstanding Coffee Establishment in the Lewisham Foundation Awards - making them the only café ever to receive both prestigious titles in the same year.
Cibo’s Jeremy Turner opened Federal and Wolfe with head chef Holly Shaw just 12 months ago.
“Cibo’s fine dining experience is one that continues to challenge and excite me,” says Jeremy.
“I wanted to apply the same impeccable attention to service and food in another establishment, but this time with a casual café environment."
Federal & Wolfe celebrates the best of both worlds.
The semi-industrial space is friendly and personal, while the superb food and coffee have gained a loyal daytime following.
Customer favourites include the sensational Smoked Fish Kedgeree and the almost impossibly succulent Mackenzie Country Organic 7 Hour Lamb.
Uniquely, Federal & Wolfe make a point of knowing the names and addresses of all their organic meat suppliers, and this is noted on their menu (attached).
Federal And Wolfe used to be a strictly weekday affair, but is now also open Saturdays from 7am to 3pm.
