Samsung Unveils New Ultra-Slim, High Performance SMART Plasma TVs
New SMART TVs feature breakthrough design, breathtaking picture quality and immersive entertainment experiences
Auckland, New Zealand – April 13, 2011 - Samsung New Zealand today unveils its 2011 range of SMART Plasma TVs featuring a line-up of 10 new models. Samsung’s 2011 models offer breakthrough Plasma+1 design, which features a new narrow bezel that increases the viewable screen size over last year’s range without increasing the TV’s outside dimensions.
Offering breathtaking picture quality, advanced connectivity options and superior audio-visual technologies, Samsung’s 2011 ultra-slim SMART Plasma TVs add a touch of sophistication and style to any home. The TVs offer rich connected entertainment options through one of the most comprehensive offerings of apps and connectivity, enabling users to get the most out of their entertainment experience. Select models will offer Samsung’s new Smart Hub, which includes:
•Web Browser* - full Flash-supported web browsing right on your TV, and all while you continue to watch your show or movie
•Social TV – join in conversations on Twitter, Facebook and Google Talk on your TV screen while simultaneously watching your favourite TV program or movie with picture in picture support
•Samsung Apps - the world’s first HDTV-based application store which offers a range of apps that help people connect to their various passions – whether sports, entertainment, information, games or social networking.
•Search All - making it easy to search for desired content on your TV and other DLNA-certified devices, networked PCs and mobile devices, plus Internet and video-on-demand services
•Your Video - which delivers movie recommendations based on a user’s viewing history
*Web Browser function available on the D8000 series Plasma only.
“Samsung’s latest range of SMART Plasma TVs continues to evolve with the needs and wants of the consumer,” says Rachael Cotton-Bronte, Samsung Electronics New Zealand. “Our new range offers innovative design with a larger screen size compared to Samsung’s previous ranges, access to our Smart Hub content interface, and 3D technology built into a broader range of models. Samsung is committed to delivering the widest variety of content through a seamless SMART TV experience.”
As 3D content becomes more prevalent, the company expects more consumers to opt for 3D features in their TVs. To this end, more of Samsung 2011 models than ever before will feature 3D technology, making immersive 3D content more accessible than ever.
Samsung Series 8 Plasma – Outstanding Picture Quality, 3D, and Plasma+1 Design
Samsung’s Series 8 Plasma TV (D8000) is designed to deliver the best Full HD viewing experience in 2D and 3D. The Ultra Thin TV design features a sleek metallic bezel combined with Samsung’s Crystal Design border for an understated cool elegance. More importantly, the thinner bezel offers more screen real estate compared with older Samsung models without an increase in the overall size of the TV. Series 8 Plasma TV models are available in screen sizes of 59” (RRP $4,699.95) and 64” ($5,999.95).
The Series 8 Plasma TV features Samsung’s Real Black Filter technology, which reduces the onscreen glare to produce darker blacks and sharper images. The Plasma panel has also been redesigned to deliver outstanding black luminance. The TV includes Samsung’s proprietary Crystal Full HD engine with Cinema Smooth technology that delivers smoother motion effects compared with older Samsung models when watching Blu-ray movies. These features combine to give the Series 8 Plasma TV a mega dynamic contrast ratio of 20,000,000:1, and pristine depth and dimension to onscreen images.
Samsung Series 6 Plasma – Stylish Design with Advanced Picture Quality
Samsung’s ultra-slim Series 6 Plasma TV (D6900) offers a range of features that make it an outstanding all-round choice for those looking to enhance their TV experience. The TV offers a design texture of cold black metal and warm, smooth glass. With Samsung’s built-in 3D processing technology, viewers can easily convert 2D content and render it in high-definition 3D for a richer, more immersive entertainment experience. Its powerful system-on-chip not only renders 2D content into 3D entertainment in real-time, but also offers video-enhancing tolls that produce sharper, colour-rich and smooth pictures. Series 6 Plasma TV models are available in screen sizes of 51” (RRP $2699.95) and 59” (RRP $3,999.95).
