Commerce Commission grants clearance to Interpipe to acquire Fletcher Concrete’s Hamilton pipe plant
The Commerce Commission has granted clearance for Interpipe Holdings Limited (trading as Waters & Farr) to acquire Fletcher Concrete and Infrastructure Limited’s vertical drycast technology concrete pipe plant located in Hamilton.
Commerce Commission Chair Dr Mark Berry said the Commission was satisfied that the proposed acquisition will not have, or would not be likely to have, the effect of substantially lessening competition in the national market for the manufacture of pipes and pipe systems between 250-450mm.
Waters & Farr is a joint venture company owned 50/50 by Fletcher Concrete and Hynds Limited, which manufactures polypropylene pipes and polyethylene pipes.
Fletcher Concrete is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fletcher Building Limited, a large New Zealand based building and infrastructure company. Through its Humes subsidiary, Fletcher Concrete manufactures and distributes a range of pipes and pipe systems.
Hynds is a privately held company that also manufactures and distributes a range of pipes and pipe systems.
A public version of the written reasons for the decision will be available as soon as practicable on the Commission’s website at www.comcom.govt.nz/clearances-register
