BNZ, Air NZ to fly banks and travel agencies together
Dec. 23 (BusinessDesk) - Bank of New Zealand and Air New Zealand are to team up on a co-location trial from the middle
of next year.
The details of the just-signed partnership agreement between Air NZ Holidays branded stores and the BNZ are still to be
generated, including trial store locations.
Air New Zealand has recently won plaudits for its about-to-be-introduced Skycouch and other innovations, while the BNZ
has recently revamped the layout of some of its banks in an untraditional bank manner.
BNZ external relations consultant Daniel Waugh there should be potential synergies in products and services, many of
which will be worked out as the trial went along. The bank would be morphing with an Airline image that is quite Apple
or iPod looking Waugh said.
"It's a co-operation thing, something that has the best interests of both parties to make work," he said.
The director of retail BNZ, Andy Symons said the co-location trials are part of a $195 million investment in its
national retail and business centre network.
Leeanne Langridge, general manager direct sales at Air NZ said the company has recently unveiled a new design layout for
its Holiday stores. "That includes touch screen technology that will encourage bank customers to enjoy discovering their
next holiday destination," she said.
The BNZ has also trialed a co-location bank with a café in Auckland's Quay Park, this being a "next step at looking to
link with other businesses," Waugh said.
"We're still to put together the what, where, which; what the final design will look like."
