Turners to Auction $1million of Brand New, Earthquake Insurance Claim Goods at No Reserve
More than 4,000 items of furniture, whiteware and electronics to be sold
More than $1 million worth of brand new, earthquake salvaged furniture, electronics and appliances will go under the
hammer in the first stock clearance auction from the aftermath of the Canterbury earthquake.
The stock has come from an earthquake insurance claim made by one of New Zealand’s largest homeware and electronics
retailers whose Christchurch stores were rocked by the quake on September 4
The goods will be sold in a two-day no reserve clearance auction at Turners Auctions’ Auckland branch this weekend.
“There are more than 4,000 items that have been knocked around by the quake and are no longer suitable for a retail
environment. Most of the stock has only minor scratches or packaging damage though, so this is a real opportunity for
people to bag a pre-Christmas bargain,” says Graham Roberts, Chief Executive of Turners Auctions.
“We’ve got everything from iPads to BBQs to beds. The stock has been written off by the retailer’s insurers, so we’re
clearing it all at no reserve at our Auckland branch.”
On offer is a huge variety of goods including Apple products, laptops, home theatre systems, TVs, cameras, fridges,
washing machines, dishwashers, ovens, bedroom furniture, dining tables and chairs, air-conditioning units and much more.
The two-day auction will run from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 November at Turners Auctions, 100 Gavin
Street, Penrose, Auckland.
Customers are able to view and inspect the goods in advance of the auction as well, with viewing days scheduled on
Thursday 25 and Friday 26 November between 10am and 4pm.
