Luxury Queenstown transport operator a finalist in national awards

Queenstown-based luxury transport operator Limousine Services Queenstown is up against stiff national competition as a finalist in a nationwide tourism award.

The well-established operator, owned by the Marett family of Queenstown since June 2005, has been named one of only three finalists in the 2010 Inbound Tour Operators Council (ITOC) Operator of the Year Award.

The other two finalists, chosen by ITOC Full Member board representatives following nominations from around the country, are InterCity Group and

Johnston's Coachlines, both of Auckland.

Limousine Services Queenstown (LSQ) owner/operators Ross and Jill Marett, together with Ross’s daughter Dale and her partner Damian, said they were “pretty chuffed” just to be nominated, but making the finals was the ultimate recognition from their peers.

“It’s recognition and reward for some pretty long hours and hard graft,” said Ross Marett.

“We may be a much smaller company than the other two finalists but we capitalize on that with our ‘can do’ attitude, and the fact that we will always go the extra mile, with our personal and efficient after hours support for agents, clients and staff. 

“Even an airport transfer in Queenstown is treated as an experience. We might only have a short space of time with clients, but we can make an impression and great sense of arrival by treating visitors to some great views on the way into town, pointing out key landmarks en route and giving advice on some of the best shops, restaurants and bars in the resort.

“We’re many visitors’ first impression of Queenstown so we’re very aware of how important that is and we’re rewarded in return with requests for particular drivers and valuable repeat business.”

Mr Marett said it was the first time the company had been nominated for the awards and reflected the fact that they were a ‘one on one’ business offering a high degree of personal service, tailored luxury transportation services and fully flexible sightseeing tours.

“Over the past five years everyone in the company has put a tremendous amount of hard work into its development, from our drivers, who at the end of the day are the ‘face’ of the business, to administration, marketing  and even the car groomers.

“We were thrilled just to be nominated, but to make the finals is the ‘icing on the cake’!”
