Destination Queenstown Chief Executive losing locks for charity
Destination Queenstown Chief Executive Tony Everitt will definitely be in need of a good woolly beanie this American Express Queenstown Winter Festival after taking part in Air New Zealand’s “Sky High Shave”.
Mr Everitt is joining Air NZ Group General Manager Bruce Parton and More FM Breakfast host Jeremy Corbett and all the passengers and crew aboard the themed flight on June 27 who are shaving their heads in support of the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.
The airline is offering passengers willing to give up their locks a free flight to the resort in time for the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival.
“It’s a bold but excellent way of showing support for those living with blood cancers such as leukaemia and lymphoma,” Mr Everitt says.
“This crazy scheme is for an excellent cause and for those taking part there’s also the added bonus of being able to enjoy the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest winter party.”
All funds raised from the mass head shave will go to support the 10,000 New Zealanders living with blood cancers and conditions.
The Leukaemia & Blood Foundation is the national charity dedicated to supporting patients and their families living with blood cancer and related blood conditions. The LBF does not receive government funding and is totally reliant on money raised through events like the Sky High Shave. The LBF provides patient support, information, awareness, and advocacy as well as conducting research.
There are still some ‘free’ seats available to Queenstown for Winter Festival, to participate register with the “Sky High Shave” group on www.shaveforacure.co.nz and call Air NZ on 0800 747 222 to reserve a seat.
For those not keen on losing their hair, check out Tony Everitt's profile on http://www.shaveforacure.co.nz/view_event_profile/2836 and make a donation.
