TracMap secures major USA Deals
Dunedin based GPS guidance company TracMap NZ Ltd is continuing international expansion with the recent signing of three more USA based distributors for its award winning ground and aviation based guidance products. This brings its total international distributors to nine. Just one of the initial orders from a new distributor is worth over $100k and TracMap are expected to increase their turnover substantially with these new distributors.
TracMap's business focus is on providing guidance systems for vehicles operating in hazardous environments, and is the major provider of GPS systems to farmers and the fertiliser spreading industry in NZ.
Managing Director Colin Brown has just recently returned from the USA, where he has just signed Californian Company Storm King Mountain to promote and distribute the company's ground-based products, with an immediate focus on bulldozers used for constructing firebreaks in mountainous country.
"There has always been a problem in providing bulldozer operators with adequate situational awareness" said Colin. Our units provide the robustness and ease of operation that allows drivers to clearly see a map of the terrain ahead of them, as well as any hazards or protected sites to be avoided, such as native burial grounds".
Colin said he is delighted to have Storm King Mountain as a distributor, for they have excellent linkages into the rural fire fighting industry throughout North America.
While in the USA, he also signed Turbine Conversions in Minnesota, and IsoLair Helicopter Systems in Oregon to sell the company's aviation product. "Just as in NZ, pilots like the simplicity and reliability of our units, particularly when operating in hill country, or where they have numerous small fields to cover," said Colin. "We have designed some unique features into our systems not available in any other similar product, such as display of background farm maps, and the ability to fly multiple baselines".
Colin recently exhibited at the US National
Agricultural Aviation Association's annual conference in
Reno Nevada, where he reports there was a great deal of
genuine interest from pilots who are dissatisfied with the
reliability and cost of other products on the market. "I was
pleasantly surprised at the level of inquiry we received" he
said.
"Being associated with well known and respected
companies such as Simplex Manufacturing, and now Turbine
Conversions and IsoLair also helped considerably, for we
don't have the same credibility issues as if we were trying
to do it alone".
TracMap has exhibited rapid growth since its market launch just over three years ago, in October 2006. TracMap recently secured 50th place on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific ranking with a 560% increase in turnover over the last three years of trading. It also secured 8th place in the Deloitte Fast 50 for New Zealand companies.
