Viaduct buys out Nelson eftpos provider
New Zealand’s leading eftpos dealer Viaduct is expanding with the purchase of Nelson company Networkz.
Wellington-based Viaduct takes over the eftpos and point of sales provider from today, in what director Mark Unwin
describes as an exciting development.
“This acquisition reflects Viaduct’s strategy of growth while providing Networkz the ability to expand its business
regionally and its overall operations,” says Mr Unwin.
The merger will give customers in both retail and hospitality the opportunity to update their technology to accept the
expected influx of new chip cards from international visitors this summer.
“Our ultimate goal is to provide Networkz with a stronger end-to-end payment and point of sale solution set, backed up
by top-class support and a nationally-focused organisation,” says Mr Unwin.
Networkz customers are assured of a smooth transition.
In fact Mr Unwin says the takeover can only benefit Networkz customers.
“Not only will they continue to receive the same high level service from their current rep, they will also have access
to Viaduct’s 24/7 technical support helpline and a wider range of terminal choice.”
Networkz former owners Steve Badham and David Jordan have also agreed to stay on and there are plans afoot to both
expand and employ more staff in the New Year.
“Networkz is a very successful operation, providing great service to the local area in both eftpos and point of sale and
we look forward to continuing that tradition,” says Mr Unwin.
Mr Jordan says the Viaduct partnership is important to ensure customers have access to the right terminal for their
needs.
“Viaduct provides every type of terminal available in the market and customers deal directly with them – not a third
party finance company.”
Technology in the point of sale industry has changed markedly over the years, says Mr Badham, from original cash
registers through to integrated point of sale computers.
“The systems these days are very powerful and provide amazing ease of use and reporting capabilities. We have many of
our original customers upgrading to newer systems to become more efficient.”
Viaduct itself has a history of innovation in the payments space – in the past year it has launched outage free eftpos,
prepaid eftpos and the new business assurance for those setting up a business for the first time.
The company has also recently been appointed a preferred supplier to the New Zealand Retailers’ Association.
