The W-shaped recovery gets new kinks

Nov 11 (BusinessWire) - You've heard of the "W-shaped" economic recovery, where the bounceback from the depths of recession is followed by another downwards dip before growth takes off again.
Well, forget that.
Reserve Bank governor Alan Bollard says the International Monetary Fund's latest view is for a recovery: that he described as the "along, down, up and along" recovery. By which he means a recovery where a recovery driven by inventory restocking, which is occurring at present, is followed by lacklustre growth rates compared to life before the credit crunch.
