New technology on show to increase irrigation efficiencies at TracMap Field Day in Oamaru and Winchester
TracMap NZ Ltd, New Zealand’s largest agricultural GPS guidance and mapping, will showcase their new technology for the placement of irrigation systems to the public for the first time, in Oamaru on Monday 9 February, 6pm and in Winchester Tuesday 10 February at 6pm.
The new system makes it a lot easier to accurately move sprinklers, resulting in increased pasture growth and reduced water wastage. Some users are covering the investment in the new system in as little as 30 days.
Key Points:
The newly released irrigation system, known as the TM344 is over two years in the making and has been designed to make accurate shifting of K-Line or Long Lateral irrigation systems easy and reliable. The new system can be fitted to a four-wheel vehicle and is extremely easy to use.
TracMap will also showcase their system for accurate fertiliser spreading and existing users of the software will have an opportunity to learn how to get more from their TracMap system.
Recent Massey University studies have shown that an 11% improvement in accuracy can be obtained by even the most experienced drivers after moving to GPS guidance. An investment in the system can obtain payback after application of 20 tonne of urea. The system is known to reduce costs and can achieve a 15% productivity gain and reduce environmental impact from fertiliser application.
Colin Brown, Managing Director of TracMap says, "in the current economic climate anyone working in farming or the rural sector is always looking to reduce costs and increase efficiencies in their business. The TracMap systems are designed to be simple to use, safe and make working in rural areas more profitable."
"The new irrigation software is the only software in New Zealand that allows sprinkler movement to be tracked daily by any member of staff, achieving consistent shift patterns, avoiding wastage and over watering. It can be used in hilly or flat areas".
The Dunedin technology based company recently scooped top Telecommunication Users Association of New Zealand (TUANZ) Rural award. TracMap was also a finalist in three other categories at the TUANZ awards, Initiative of the year, Mobile application of the year and ICT Innovator of the year.
TracMap was also recently listed as one of three finalists in the Gen-I NZ Incubator awards for Innovation of the Year category.
Farmers, viticulturists and anyone who would benefit from the technology are encouraged to attend the field day to learn more about the software and are invited to join the team from TracMap for a BBQ and a cold drink as part of the event.
