Strike Action at Giant Supermarket

Rolling strikes will begin at the largest supermarket in the Southern Hemisphere at 12 noon today.
NDU organiser Ingrid Beckers says workers at the Lincoln Rd Pak n Save intend taking industrial action throughout the
hectic Christmas period in an attempt to persuade the owner to come up with a decent pay offer.
“Supermarket owner John Street has offered our members a starting rate of $12.30 an hour. This is less than workers in
supermarkets just a few minutes away are being paid,” she says.
“The Lincoln Rd Pak n Save is very profitable. The workers are giving Mr Street a gentle reminder that he should share
his good fortune with those who help create it.”
