Hired Gunn On Christchurch Radio Station
Christchurch’s Classic Hits 97.7FM Breakfast Show has a new “Hired Gunn”.
Well-known media personality Jason Gunn will co-host the show with long-time friend Tim Dyer from January 26 next year.
Jason is one of New Zealand’s best known celebrities, with a high profile through TV shows such as “Dancing With The
Stars”
and “Wheel of Fortune”, but says he will always be a Christchurch boy at heart.
He says he is looking forward to travelling to work by car rather than plane and to focussing his energy and enthusiasm
on
Christchurch conversations, alongside music he identifies with.
“I love the local-ness of radio,” he says. “I am proudly one-eyed and this radio show will allow me to show my true
colours.
I will be talking to someone in Brighton, then someone in Ilam, another in Russley and together we will remind listeners
why
Christchurch is the best city to live in.
“Radio is about the theatre of the mind and you can take people anywhere with the push of a button. I love that,” he
says.
Tim Dyer has built a very successful career in radio over the past 23 years and is currently mixing on-air work with the
Operations
Manager role. Brian Ashby will continue his role as chief reporter of sport for the breakfast show.
Andrew Britt, General Manager of Classic Hits 97.7FM, says “ This is a very exciting development for the station. Not
only does Jason
have a nationwide profile, but he is very much a hometown boy, so putting him with his mate Tim will make for
entertaining local listening”.
