Fronde Technology Boosts Mobile Commerce in the Philippines
4 December 2008 – Logica and New Zealand’s own Fronde Anywhere recently announced the launch of a new mobile ordering and payment service in the Philippines with i.can Worldwide - part of the TAO Group of companies.
“As an emerging player in mobile commerce distribution in that country, we chose Fronde technology, coupled with Logica’s systems integration services to propel i.can into dominance as a regional player in this space,” stressed Concepcion Octaviano, i.can's chief operating officer.
With Fronde’s award winning mobile technology i.can is delivering a next generation market hub for mobile payments into one of the worlds most innovative and aggressive mobile commerce markets. The i.can platform links merchants and banks directly to customers via their mobile phone. It enables customers to view merchants and products, order and pay direct from their bank accounts using their mobile phones.
“This is a powerful partnership in a fast moving part of the world for mobile commerce adoption,” said Caroline Dewe, Fronde Anywhere’s CEO. “i.can’s mobile services and comprehensive business model leapfrogs into the next generation of mobile payments and will form a benchmark global case study.”
The development of the Fronde technology deployed in the Philippines was partially funded by government funding supplied by New Zealand’s FRST. The merchant payments functionality deployed to i.can is part of the latest release of Fronde Anywhere’s mobile financial services platform that also supports mobile banking and authentication services.
Fronde has deployed similar mobile phone-based services in New Zealand, the UK, France, Germany, and South Africa. Fronde Anywhere is a specialist provider of mobile payment, banking and multi-factor authentication solutions worldwide. Fronde Anywhere is part of the Fronde Systems Group.
