Armourguard Secures Contract For Hamilton 400
Armourguard has been awarded the contract as the exclusive supplier of security services for the 2009 Hamilton 400 V8 Supercar street race.
The company was awarded the six year contract, estimated to be worth $1.5million following a competitive tender process.
The new contract extends the level of security services provided by the company at this year's event which involved carrying out night security only, to now providing round-the-clock cover for the full duration of the build period, the event weekend and post event deconstruction.
Also included in the contract is a 'site exclusivity' arrangement which means that companies involved with the event will be required to work through Armourguard when seeking additional security or cash handling solutions.
Hamilton 400 promoter, Steve Vuleta said Armourguard was invited to tender for the whole event because of its proven professionalism and strong operational capabilities.
"As part of a review of this year's event, we identified security as a being a key area that required a renewed focus. In line with that, we sought tenders from a number of companies and ultimately selected Armourguard because it was able to provide a professional one stop solution and could handle all aspects of the security required - being pre and post and event security."
Armourguard Branch Manager, Marilyn Place, said she and the Waikato team were delighted to have been awarded the contract.
"We provide security at events throughout the country as well as across the Waikato region - there's not a month that goes by where our event team aren't being utilised somewhere. The Hamilton 400 is one of the premier motorsports events on the Australasian racing calendar. We're excited to be playing an integral part in that event by providing a safe and secure environment for the drivers, their support teams and spectators."
Marilyn said she expected to have over 200 people working at the event on any given day.
"As we are a Hamilton-based company, we'll be looking to utilize local people and companies for the provision of labour and equipment - all of which should come as welcome news to the wider Hamilton community."
The Hamilton division of Armourguard is located around the corner from the V8 racetrack providing staff with quick and easy access to the venue. Armourguard security guards and patrols will begin working at the event securing the race track and facilities from early March 2009.
