National Services Te Paerangi of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa is holding a workshop entitled Getting Ahead with Digitising Collections workshop in Whangerei on Friday 5 November 2008 at the Whangerei Museum & Heritage Park.
The workshop is aimed at museums, arts, heritage, and iwi organisations and others in the region to learn useful new skills and share ideas. This hands-on workshop will cover digitisation of collection information, knowing what to document, standards, and advice on managing digitisation projects.
The workshop will be presented by Sandra Ward who has a wide variety of experience in the museum sector. She has been involved with collection documentation projects as Registrar at the Museum of Transport and Technology and the Waikato Coalfields Museum in Huntly. National Services Te Paerangi works with Te Papa and their mission is to strengthen the museum sector by providing practical and strategic help to museums and iwi throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. Our goal is for museums and iwi to be significantly strengthened by increased participation in our programmes and by working collaboratively at a local and national level.
