Fast Food News you can feel Chipper About
An independent survey across leading fast food chains has established Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers’ chips contain significantly less fat and much lower sodium levels than their major competitor’s chips.
The June 2008 survey took 5 randomly selected Wendy’s restaurants and had a sample of fries from each, analysed by an independent laboratory. Samples were also collected from 5 randomly selected outlets from each leading fast food competitor so that comparisons could be drawn. Wendy’s sells thicker chips rather than shoestrings, which are well-known to be healthier due to their lower surface area.
In addition to demonstrating that Wendy’s chips have lower fat than the average chip and the lowest sodium of all chips analysed, the survey also determined Wendy’s chips have significantly less variation in the chip fat content across their restaurants.
This news serves to enhance Wendy’s outstanding reputation for a full-flavoured chip and will undoubtedly be welcomed by consumers who can be rest assured Wendy’s emphasis on quality, freshness and honesty trust is well-substantiated. As long-standing Wendy’s front man, Kiwi Dave, enthused in reaction to the news: “Our guests now know they are not only making a tastier choice, but a healthier choice!”
The survey results make it clear: when making the choice as to which chip, choose Wendy’s. At only 144mg of sodium per 100-gram sample, Wendy’s chips had the lowest sodium content of the chips major brands surveyed, while some of the competitors measured up to 252mg per 100-gram sample. Furthermore, other fast food outlets displayed massive inconsistencies in the fat content of their chips across stores. Some of the leading fast food chains had a variation of up to 9 grams of fat (per 100grams) across their outlets, while Wendy’s had one of the lowest variation in fat content across their restaurants, at just over 3 grams of fat (per 100 grams).
The Wendy’s brand has long been associated with wholesome authenticity and trustworthiness. These Wendy’s hallmarks along with their premium quality, mouth-watering food has made them a family favourite since doors first opened in 1969.
