SLI Systems Introduces New Redundant Hosting Architecture to Ensure Customer Websites are Protected from Outages or Failures
During the Holidays and Throughout the Year, SLI Gives Web-based Businesses Peace of Mind Knowing that Their Sites are Stable and Ready to Serve Customers at All Times
SLI Systems, a provider of on-demand search services for Internet and e-commerce sites, today introduced a unique new redundant cloud computing architecture that helps to ensure online businesses are protected from hardware or service failures, which could result in lost revenue and compromised customer loyalty. Unlike other site search technology vendors whose systems are vulnerable to a single point of failure, SLI provides its clients with multiple connection points - all the way to the client’s browser - that remove the risk of a service outage.
SLI’s new redundant architecture, that protects online businesses throughout the year, will be particularly important during the upcoming holiday shopping season, which is expected to see a 12% increase in online sales over last year[1]. As such, companies that rely on the web to power their businesses know the damage that can be done from a system outage - precious revenue is lost, site visitors may opt to purchase from a competitor and customer service goes out the window.
Jeffrey Zwelling, CEO of YLighting said, “Because we rely on the Internet to power our business, it is imperative that our site performs continuously, especially during peak traffic times, and that our clientele is able to search the site whenever they want to shop. If our site fails, we risk losing revenue, and more importantly, losing the customers we have worked so hard to keep. SLI Systems has always provided the tools we need to enhance our offering, and their customer service is second-to-none. The addition of the new redundant architecture provides even greater value and lets us rest assured that our business is secure and our customers will remain satisfied.”
Built-in Protection from the Data Center to the Browser
SLI’s new redundant hosting architecture was developed to ensure that SLI client sites are served from several, geographically dispersed locations. While redundancy has always been part of SLI’s hosting infrastructure, the new redundant architecture significantly enhances the security as each of the data centres that handle SLI’s customers provides multiple servers and Internet connections to defend businesses at many levels - all the way to the client’s browser. In addition, SLI has increased the number of data centres that safeguard its clients’ sites. In the event that one of the hosting locations fails - due to a hardware failure, DOS attacks, power outages, natural disasters or other factors - the data centres not affected by the outage will automatically handle the load and ensure that SLI’s customer websites remain stable. This protection gives online business owners additional security and peace of mind in knowing their site search is virtually immune from an outage.
Sue Aldrich, senior vice president of the Patricia Seybold Group, said “If a site’s search function goes down, customers are frustrated and businesses can experience significant revenue loss and negative impact on their brand. This is particularly painful for customers and retailers during the holidays when traffic, buying, and revenue are at their peak. Web-based businesses can’t afford to be at the mercy of unforeseen circumstances, like power outages, network glitches, or overly heavy traffic loads.”
Trying to achieve the high degree of availability that SLI Systems now offers is complicated, and companies attempting to handle this on their own would require a team of specialists to set it up and maintain it,” she continued. “In other words, only the largest retailers have the resources to devote to it. SLI’s hosted search technology enables any site to tap the company’s team of experts to ensure that they are safeguarded from failure, and that they are always able to provide the quality of experience their customers have come to expect.”
Redundancy One of a Series of Enhancements
Earlier this year, SLI introduced a redesigned merchandising console that provides greater flexibility for online businesses in how they choose to promote products and information in search results. The company also made significant speed improvements to its search solution, reducing the time it takes to generate and deliver search results by as much as 50 percent, and introduced a new Auto Complete feature for making site searches quicker and easier. Prior to those enhancements, SLI also increased the indexing capabilities of its site search solution to five million documents – a benchmark that exceeds many other site search vendors’ capabilities. SLI’s new geographically redundant site hosting is another example of the company’s dedication to exceeding customer requirements through exceptional service and is included, free of charge, for all SLI customers.
Shaun Ryan, CEO of SLI Systems, said "We're dedicated to continually improving our search solutions to offer our customers the best means available for promoting their online businesses. With our new redundant hosting architecture, we’re providing our customers the peace of mind that other site search solutions can’t. And, to make it even more appealing, this new feature is automatically included for every customer, with no additional charge.”
