100% dedicated to ENERGY STAR®
Appliance chain 100% has signed up as New Zealand’s latest ENERGY STAR® retail partner.
The partnership signals 100%’s commitment to energy efficiency and promoting ENERGY STAR® qualified products.  It reinforces the company’s dedication to providing customers with the best advice, products and service available, through the 56 owner-operated 100% stores around the country.
ENERGY STAR® is an independent, international labeling programme that identifies the top 25% most energy efficient consumer electronics and home appliances.  It is administered and promoted in New Zealandby the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).
Products that carry the ENERGY STAR® label include dishwashers, washing machines, fridges and freezers, heat pumps, TVs, DVD players, home theatre systems, computers and office equipment.
As an ENERGY STAR® retail partner, all products sold by 100% that qualify for ENERGY STAR® will carry a distinctive blue label and be clearly visible throughout all stores.  100% staff will be trained to answer customer questions about energy efficient appliances and ENERGY STAR®, including the benefits of purchasing those products.  By choosing ENERGY STAR® appliances, 100% customers can save electricity, money and benefit the environment.
“We’re delighted that 100% has joined up as an ENERGY STAR® partner,” said MikeUnderhill, Chief Executive, EECA.  “This means that even more New Zealanders will now enjoy the benefits of first-hand advice on energy efficient products from 100% staff when choosing appliances.”
“We are all aware that New Zealand’s energy consumption has been growing.  We’re buying more electrical products than ever and using them longer, so it’s really important that we choose energy efficient models upfront to save money in the long run.  Working with 100% as an ENERGY STAR® partner will help more Kiwis to make the most energy efficient choices they can.”
Wayne Burton, Chief Executive, Appliance Connexion which manages the 100% brand and stores, said:  “Being proudly New Zealandowned and operated all the 100% stores enjoy a real connection with our loyal customers and the local communities in which we serve.  This extends beyond the shop floor into customer’s homes and our environment.
“We recognise that purchasing appliances is a major decision for most people.  They want to know which options will save them money, while being conscious of doing some good for the environment.  100% strives to provide value to customers through maintaining good supplier relationships and by strengthening partnerships. The alliance with ENERGY STAR® is another way our customers will directly benefit - by helping them to make informed energy efficient choices that are cost-effective.  This is important in fulfilling our ongoing service commitment to customers.”
