Vero Achieves Business Excellence Gold
- Highest score ever attained by any NZ organisation -
Vero Insurance NZ Limited has achieved a coveted Gold award for business excellence, officially endorsing the business as world class in everything it does.
Vero has been measured against the highly demanding Baldrige Criteria – the most comprehensive business excellence criteria which traverse every aspect of a modern organisation – and is the only New Zealand organisation to have achieved a prestigious Gold award in 2008.
Chief Executive Roger Bell says, “This is a huge achievement for our company.  Each year only a handful of US businesses achieve at this level, so we are thrilled to not only achieve Gold, but also to have done it with the highest score ever attained by a New Zealand organisation.”
“This is not just about us patting ourselves on the back.  What this means is that an independent body has measured every area of our business and found that we deliver world class outcomes for our customers, our broker partners, our staff and our shareholders.”
Achieving Gold has been a 10 year journey for Vero.  The company has been on a programme of continuous improvement which saw it achieve Bronze in 1998 and Silver in 2004.  While Gold was always the goal, Mr Bell says the challenge now is to keep improving in order to maintain the Gold level when Vero is reassessed in two years time.
Mr Bell says, “While it’s great to have this award, we’ve already reaped so many benefits from this process along the way.  Our staff engagement is measured at 87%, our claims satisfaction rating is 9 out of 10 and we have a great relationship with our broking partners.  The Vero staff are so motivated by this process that I couldn’t stop them now even if I wanted to!”
The Business Excellence Awards are administered in New Zealand by the NZ Business Excellence Foundation.  The award will be officially presented at a celebratory luncheon at The Heritage Grand Tea Room today.
