Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco Clinches Supreme Hanz Award For Excellence
Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco won the supreme overall award for excellence at the HANZ Awards for Excellence Dinner held
in Dunedin last night. The resort was also judged best hotel accommodation in New Zealand.
The Hospitality Association of New Zealand (HANZ) runs the annual awards.
Monaco was short listed as finalists in four awards categories in all: Best Hotel, Best New Hotel, Best Restaurant and
Excellence in Customer Service.
Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco co-owner Clare Davies says they are ecstatic to receive two awards.
“To be judged in the top two or three properties in the competition is fantastic. To win the supreme award is simply
amazing. The whole team is delighted to be recognised in this way, and this success is a reflection of the passion and
care that goes into ensuring our guests enjoy a magical experience at the resort,” she says.
Grand Mercure Nelson Monaco, located just a few minutes out of Nelson on the Monaco peninsula, has recently completed
its expansion plans. The expansion included the addition of 38 new cottages, a conference hall that seats up to 150
people, and even an onsite craftsman jeweller, the High Street Jeweller, and Ursual Harris’ new hairdressing salon.
The hotel and resort now boasts 20 hotel rooms, 42 one-bedroom cottages and 38 two-bedroom cottages as well as a health
and beauty spa, pool and gym facilities.
