Business NZ welcomes new Canterbury Vice-Chancellor
Business NZ welcomes the appointment of Dr Rod Carr as Vice-Chancellor of Canterbury University.
Dr Carr is currently CEO of Jade Corporation, one of New Zealand’s most prominent IT firms, and a member of the Canterbury Employers Chamber of Commerce Board.
Business NZ chief executive Phil O’Reilly says having a dynamic business leader at the head of Canterbury University – one of the country’s ICT and engineering centres of expertise – opens up fantastic opportunities for new and exciting partnerships.
“Innovation and the commercialisation of research will be pivotal to New Zealand’s future prosperity,” says Mr O’Reilly.
“Close links between universities and the private sector are critical to achieving these goals.
“I commend the University Council for an excellent selection and look forward to working with Dr Carr in his new role.”
Dr Carr will take up his new role at the University in February.
