Undercover Kids Gets Nominated For Gizzy Award
Totalspan’s Undercover Kids Bus Shelter programme has been named as a finalist in the MORE FM Gizzy Awards for best
Tradesman/Handyman/DI.Y.
The Undercover Kids Bus Shelter Programme is a nationwide initiative that was launched in June to provide bus shelters
for children on rural school routes.
Seventeen applications for bus shelters were received from local schools in the Gisborne-Wairoa area.
“We are thrilled to be recognised for doing something that is vital to the rural community. The programme is our way of
using our practical skills to give something back to the communities in which we operate,” says Bryne Gregory, Totalspan
Gisborne franchise owner.
“It is so important that our kids are kept as safe as possible when they head to and from school. The bus shelters we
are installing are highly visible and provide good shelter. This will ensure kiwi kids are kept dry and away from
traffic,” he added.
Bryne Gregory says the Totalspan Undercover Kids Bus Shelter Programme had the full support of Gisborne Road Safety
Co-ordinator, Lenora McDonald and local Mayor, Meng Foon.
The MORE FM Gizzy Awards are designed to recognise the efforts of local unsung heroes for their everyday hard work.
Totalspan plans to install at least 112 shelters nationwide in 2008, and 150 in following years.
The More FM Gizzy Awards winners will be announced at a dinner and awards night on 9 October.
