LG Looks For A Clear Winner Out Of The FOGG
LG Electronics announces its major sponsorship deal with Angus Fogg’s V8 racing team.
LG Electronics has announced its partnership deal with kiwi racing driver Angus Fogg, as major sponsor of his new team for the 2008/09 New Zealand V8s Championship series.
Always a strong contender, Fogg has finished on the podium for each of the last three race seasons, finishing a close second in last season’s Championship, and returns in 2008/09 intent on winning.
Fogg has rebuilt the car he raced at the beginning of the 2007/08 season and the new look LG Electronics Ford Falcon was unveiled recently at LG’s stand at the Auckland Home Show.
Kane Silcock, Marketing Manager LG Electronics New Zealand is excited by the prospect of supporting such a successful team and believes the partnership with one of New Zealand’s most talented drivers offers excellent exposure for the LG brand.
“Angus has proved himself over a twenty year career as one of New Zealand’s most successful drivers. Foggy’s fans are very loyal and with a growing interest in the New Zealand V8s Championship series, this is a perfect partnership for LG Electronics to be associated with such an experienced, high profile talent,” he says.
“The New Zealand V8s Championship sees late model Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores race head to head in a 21 race championship built on a staunch rivalry. The LG Falcon was purpose-built and engineered by Fogg himself, its finely tuned V8 engine boasts around 410 horse power and the car has a top speed of 240 km/hr. With the top 10 cars often qualifying within a second of each other, precision is vital, and those performance qualities are reflective of the products LG Electronics has been offering the New Zealand consumer electronics market since launching in 2007,” added Silcock.
The sponsorship deal gives LG Electronics naming rights of the team and includes prominent LG branding on Fogg’s red and black Ford Falcon.
Drivers compete for the New Zealand V8s Championship across seven rounds throughout New Zealand. The championship begins with three races this weekend (4-5 October) at Taupo Motorsport Park.
LG Electronics has launched a new website www.lgmotorsport.co.nz where fans can keep up to date with Angus Fogg’s progress in the 2008/09 Championship and is giving away eight LG 42-inch Plasma televisions throughout the series. See website for details.
