Wellington Energy Consumers Have Cheaper Choice
Nova Gas said today that in the wake of price rise announcements, Wellington energy consumers needed to know that they
still had a cheaper choice.
Cressida Gates, Nova Gas Spokesperson, said that in contrast to price rise announcements by other energy retailers in
Wellington, Nova was not raising its own prices.
“Nova is not raising its prices, so the contrast between us and competitors is now even starker”.
“Nova’s own dual-fuel (gas and electricity) service in Wellington remains unchanged in price, with the new price rises
of other companies leaving the average user at least $350 cheaper annually”.
The duel fuel option means that customers receive one energy bill for both their gas and electricity accounts, have both
their meters read in one visit and all their energy queries can be answered by just one phone call.
Ms Gates said the company was able to keep its prices down because it operates differently. For example, cuts out the
middlemen by owning bypass pipelines for gas, and by undertaking gas exploration and production. It also invests in new
and innovative energy projects including Wellington’s Southern Landfill which is being used to generate electricity from
greenhouse gas.
Nova Gas has also partnered up with SuperGold Cards, the card which provides discounts and concessions to all eligible
seniors and veterans. Nova Gas are offering all cardholders within the greater Wellington and Auckland regions a
discount of 14 cents per day (+GST) off the gas fixed daily charge for Nova Gas’s standard residential pricing plans.
Electricity and gas users can compare their current supplier with the Nova pricing online at www.novagas.co.nz and sign
up online or by calling 0800 NovaGas.
