Jennian On Top Again In New Zealand’s Premier Building Awards
Jennian Homes is once again New Zealand’s most awarded building company in the _Registered Master Builders’ 2008 House
of the Year and Commercial Project Awards, in association with PlaceMakers.
Jennian took out a total of 87 Awards in 20 regional competitions held throughout New Zealand during June, July and
August, including three Gold Reserve National finalists, 17 Gold Awards, 34 Silver Awards, 13 Bronze Awards, 16 Category
Winners, one PlaceMakers Supreme Award, one RMB Commercial Project of the Year, one Mico Bathrooms Excellence Award, and
one Outdoor Living Award.
Jennian franchisee Bruce Maetzig says the company is ecstatic about the number of Awards received by the company
throughout the country this year, a big increase on the 57 Awards received last year.
“Over the years Jennian has performed exceptionally well in the House of the Year competition, and has consistently been
one of the most awarded companies in the competition,” Mr Maetzig says.
“We’re thrilled to have achieved that again in the regional competitions this year.”
Mr Maetzig says he believes the company’s success comes down to the commitment every one of its builders has to quality
and to consistently producing properties that exceed clients’ expectations.
“We do actively encourage our builders to enter the Awards, but you don’t win a House of the Year Award simply by
entering. I believe our success comes down to the level of expectation we have for each and every one of our properties,
and the level of quality that we require all Jennian builders to adhere to.”
This year, Jennian’s three Gold Reserve National finalist titles were won by the Gisborne, Waikato, and Northland
franchises.
The Gisborne franchise, which was a first-time entrant in the Awards this year, took out the Gisborne House of the Year
(PlaceMakers Supreme Award) for a property entered in the New Homes $350,000-$450,000 category. The franchise was also
awarded one Gold Award, two Silver Awards, three category winners, and the Gisborne Outdoor Living Award. One of the
winning properties was a beachfront home built for surf life saving legend Cory Hutchings and his family.
Dylan Callaghan, who together with Dan Murphy owns and manages the Gisborne franchise, says he’s delighted at the
results his team achieved in this year’s Awards.
“I think we were so successful because we really work for our customers, listen to their wants and needs, and come up
with the best possible solution for them. We are dedicated to safe, quality building practices and to making our
customers feel comfortable with us,” Mr Callaghan said.
“These values and practices resonate throughout the Jennian network which is why I believe Jennian continues to be so
successful in the House of the Year Awards.”
Bruce Maetzig says the Registered Master Builders 2008 House of the Year and Commercial Project Awards continue to be a
very important competition for Jennian, as it gives the company an opportunity to see how it is measuring up to the rest
of the industry.
“There’s no better way for us to assess the quality of our projects than by being measured by our peers against the
leading companies in the industry, and judging by our regional results this year we are doing pretty well.”
The Gold Reserve National finalists’ properties will be judged during October and the winners will be announced at a
gala dinner in November.
